At the Festival at Sandpoint, your health, safety, and enjoyment are our top priorities. We understand that some guests may have questions about our use of pesticides or pest control treatments on our grounds.

We use EPA-approved products and select the lowest-impact, most targeted solutions possible. We prioritize integrated pest management (IPM), minimizing the need for chemical use.

-
Yes, we occasionally use pesticides for pest control to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for our guests. All treatments are applied in accordance with state and federal regulations.
-
Treatments are scheduled during off-hours—typically early morning or on days when no events are scheduled. This allows time for products to dry and ensures that concertgoers are not exposed during events. Please note that approved application dates don’t mean we will apply on every date. Pesticide applications are weather and need dependant.
-
Yes, once an area has reopened after treatment, it is considered safe for all guests, including children and service animals.
-
Yes. We do not apply pesticides when wind speeds exceed 10 mph or when rain is forecasted within 24 hours of application. These thresholds help prevent drift or runoff, ensuring applications remain targeted and safe.
-
Yes. Any treated areas are clearly marked with signage and are closed off until it is safe to re-enter. We strictly follow reentry intervals as recommended by product manufacturers and regulatory agencies.
-
Bifen I/T is primarily applied to the artificial turf and hard scape surfaces at Memorial Field. While contact with bees is not impossible, given the natural environment preference of bees, they are less likely to come in contact with the pesticide than the targeted pests, which reside in the turf infill and grandstand areas.
