Genre: pop, rock

kylekelly takes all of those things we don’t want to admit, the awkward moments we experience, and the little anxieties we may be too shy to share and turns them into irresistible and identifiable pop-rock anthems. Born in New Jersey, but really raised by the city of New York, the singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist infuses tried-and-true songcraft with acute Gen-Z empathy.
After captivating audiences on tour with the likes of Daniel Seavey, he opens up without filter on his 2025 EP, a melancholic romcom produced by Jeffery David (Mat Kearney, Seal, Zedd) and Brandon Paddock (Avril Lavigne, Boys Like Girls, lovelytheband).
“I try to address concepts that people typically don’t want to discuss,” he says. “I’m writing about things that aren’t fun to admit—mostly so I can get them off my chest. However, I also want to show everyone that it’s okay to make mistakes. Those feelings aren’t wrong.”
During his childhood in South Jersey, kylekelly didn’t have to look far to fall in love with music. As a kid, he regularly fell asleep to his CD player, listening to Disney soundtracks for Hercules, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King. He first started playing piano by the time he turned three, developing an early understanding of music theory. He later picked up a guitar at 13 years old and began writing his own original songs. While listening to Green Day his “entire life,” his palette expanded to include influences such as The 1975, The Cure, U2, and more. Not long after turning seventeen, he moved to New York City. In between gigging at any place with a stage, he continued to write and record songs of his own. As buzz began to build, he drew in an elite circle of producers and writers, including Jeffery David and Brandon Paddock, as well as David Sneddon (Lana Del Rey, Niall Horan). He eventually relocated to Los Angeles after living in New York for six years.
Throughout 2024, he gained traction with the likes of “my little heart <3,” “Priscilla,” and “OMG,” lighting up DSPs. Those songs rolled into a melancholic romcom. He began writing the EP throughout Spring 2024 before recording in Nashville, TN, throughout June and July. He culled inspiration from classic flicks a la 10 Things I Hate About You and iconic television series such as Friends and How I Met Your Mother, hence the title. The project even features samples from personal favorite romcoms woven into the fabric of his anthemic pop-rock.
